Passang Dawa Sherpa

Passang Dawa Sherpa has led 74 Everest Base Camp departures since 2008 and holds NMA Trekking Guide License 1123. Born in Phortse at 3,840 m, he worked as a porter on the Gokyo route at 16 before completing the Khumbu Climbing Center's technical course in 2006. His 18 years of guiding cover every teahouse route in the Khumbu plus 11 crossings of the Three Passes circuit.

Passang writes and reviews all Everest-region content on this site. His trail-condition updates come from his own departures and from a network of lodge owners in Namche, Dingboche, and Gorak Shep he has known for two decades. He carries a Wilderness First Responder certification renewed in 2025 and has coordinated four helicopter evacuations above 5,000 m, all four clients recovering fully.
