Kathmandu Valley is a UNESCO-dense cultural basin at 1,400 m holding seven World Heritage Sites within a 15 km radius, the pre- and post-trek base for every itinerary this company runs. Day tours here need no trekking permit, run year-round regardless of monsoon or winter conditions elsewhere in Nepal, and fit naturally into the arrival or departure days that already sit empty in most trek bookings. A single-day Kathmandu heritage tour covers three to four sites with a licensed city guide for USD 40 to 70 per person.

Kathmandu's UNESCO sites survived the 2015 earthquake with damage but not disappearance, and reconstruction across Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath has restored most of what visitors come to see. A single day here before or after a trek turns two otherwise idle travel days, the arrival day and the two-day flight buffer we build into every Everest itinerary, into a productive part of the trip rather than hotel time.
Our guides know which sites suit which interest: Durbar Square for Newar palace architecture, Swayambhunath for the Kathmandu Valley's best single viewpoint, Boudhanath for the largest stupa in Nepal and its Tibetan refugee community, Pashupatinath for a working Hindu cremation site treated respectfully rather than as a spectacle. All sit within a short taxi ride of Thamel, where most trekkers stay.
