Dolpo Region Treks

Dolpo is a restricted trans-Himalayan region in far-western Nepal behind the Dhaulagiri massif, home to Shey Phoksundo, Nepal's deepest lake, and some of the country's least-trekked terrain. Like Upper Mustang, Dolpo sits in the Himalayan rain shadow, and its restricted-area permit requires a licensed guide and a minimum group size through the Department of Immigration. We run two departures here: the Lower Dolpo Phoksundo Lake Trek, an 8-12 day teahouse trek needing only standard park entry, and the Upper Dolpo Circuit, an 18-22 day restricted-area camping trek over the Numa La and Baga La.

Both trips are bookable now, with the wider route network still expanding through 2026 and 2027 as government policy actively pushes trekkers toward regions like this one. Message us directly for a custom itinerary beyond these two: our permit team already processes restricted-area paperwork for Manaslu and Upper Mustang and can scope additional Dolpo routes on request.
