Region
Far West Nepal is the country's least-trekked region, covering Rara Lake, Nepal's largest lake at 2,990 m, the remote Limi Valley near the Tibet border, and Khaptad National Park's high plateau grasslands. Nepal's tourism policy has actively promoted this region since 2023 to spread trekking demand beyond the Everest and Annapurna corridors, and infrastructure investment is following. We run three departures here, all bookable now. The Rara Lake Trek is the accessible way in: 6 days, 2,990 m, graded easy, USD 700-1,000, and no permit beyond the NPR 3,000 park entry. Khaptad National Park is 9 days across high plateau grassland to 3,300 m at USD 900-1,300, again on standard park entry. The Limi Valley Trek is the serious one: 18 days to 4,560 m near the Tibet border at USD 2,600-3,400, and the only far-west route needing a restricted-area permit, the Humla filing at USD 50 per person per week through a registered agency.
Rara and Khaptad can be confirmed on standard-permit lead times. Limi Valley needs the six to eight weeks any restricted area does, so plan that one further out. Message us directly for a custom departure combining them or extending beyond these three.
