Region
Far West Nepal is the country's least-trekked region, covering Rara Lake, Nepal's largest lake at 2,990 m, the remote Limi Valley near the Tibet border, and Khaptad National Park's high plateau grasslands. Nepal's tourism policy has actively promoted this region since 2023 to spread trekking demand beyond the Everest and Annapurna corridors, and infrastructure investment is following. We run the Rara Lake Trek now, a 6-8 day teahouse trek with no restricted-area permit, as the accessible way into this region, with Limi Valley and Khaptad route options expanding through 2027.
Reach out directly if Limi Valley or Khaptad interests you beyond the Rara Lake Trek. Rara Lake itself is reachable on a shorter itinerary than most restricted-area treks, with no special permit beyond standard national park entry, and we can put together a custom departure to the other two destinations on request.
